About

Hi, I am Abby, the girl behind The Joys of a Sleepyhead. A 19 year old, 4th year ECE engineering student in the Philippines. But aside from being attached to the world of Electronics and Communication, I'm also a bibliophile and a makeup enthusiast (hey, I'm still learning!). When I'm not succumbing on the depths of academic pressure, I write posts, lurk at social media, binge watch youtube videos and read books. I tried to write a novel, but didn't finish it. Ever since that attempt failed, I sporadically write short snippets of stories I'll never finish. I've been blogging since my early teens. You could say most of my growing up years were spent over the internet. The story of why this blog contains most of book posts is because it was a book blog before. Enthralling Reads was one of my babies in this world, but I finally stripped the label book blog and venture into something more. I wanted to blog more personal stuff and be able to share my fondness for books, makeups and drama at the same time.

I'm also a fan of the hallyu world (Korean industry) - both kpop and kdramas. My favorite korean groups are Super Junior and Girls' Generation. My favorite k-drama up to date are To the Beautiful You,  Healer and Weightlifting Fairy Kim Book Jo. My favorite books are *omg* I can't possibly name all of them for almost all the books that fall on the "favorite" category are piling up, but to name a few (books and series): Legend series by Marie Lu, The Infernal Devices Trilogy by Cassandra Clare, Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo, PJO series by Rick Riordan, Tell Me Three Things by Julie Buxbaum and The Distance Between Us by Kasie West.

My bibliophile story:

My mom always tells me that I prefer books over toys even when I was just 2 years old. I loved pretend reading way back then and won't stop bugging my family to read me one of the story books I clutch almost every time. It was a lovely story, maybe I was really born to be a bookworm, but it won't always be pretty for I confess that I stopped reading (middle grade books, even some classics) when I was around 8-10 years old unless required by my school. Around grade 8, I started reading novels again and this time I started exploring the world of YA. But before anything else, the first ever series that I finished was The Chronicles of Narnia by CS Lewis. My very first YA read was City of Bones by Cassandra Clare. A very memorable read for me! I read NA books, but very selected ones. Like if someone I trust with recommendations decide to push me read a NA book, then WHY NOT? Sometimes it's also because of the buzzing curiosity.

I accept review requests but I have to be very strict for I really prioritize the books on my TBR or most anticipated books! :') Mail me at abigailbasco[@)gmail[.]com :)
