OH MY GOD. THE GRAPHIC LACKED "D" DDDDDDD! IM SORRY GUYS! HAHAHAHA I hope you forgive me! See the pun there. I am awesome. No, I am not kididng. Okay, kidding aside (oh gosh I just slipped, no, I am still not kididng.) I devotedly read the dedications and acknowledgements. There's something so bizarre and touching when it comes to these parts of the book. It feels like I am able to also thank the people who helped created the books that I read through an author's acknowledgement. I like to hear the author's voice through these parts of the book. It's that moment when they emerge from their characters. Some dedications and acknowledgements no matter how simple they are, bring out tiny droplets on my face and some *hearts on my eyes*.
Usually, it's the last book in the series that totally has the most emotional thank you's and I admit that I highly anticipate for them just like what happened to *coughs* COHF and Champion. But some dedications are so waggish and witty. These are very special and I get that cackling noise so ugly I think my neighbors are going to sue me. So here I am sharing my favorite dedications and acknowledgements even from books that I haven't read (but peaked on the acknowledgement parts because I'm all agog. And the consequence sometimes is I get to ACCIDENTALLY read the last words in the ending silly spoilers corrupting my eyes.)

Have you ever looked at your bookshelf and just smile, then suddenly feel emotional? I don't know, maybe too happy? Relieved? Comforted? It's just that whenever I see my bookshelf with my books on it, there's an automatic smile that will plaster on my face. It's like they're staring back at me and saying, "We'll stay here. We won't leave."

Ughhhh. It's just that today I felt so stressed because of my upcoming finals plus requirement completion. I was so antsy and grumpy the whole day, but when I went into my room and turned on the lights, I found myself staring at my bookshelf for the longest time and just tried to relish the feeling of being surrounded by books that never left my side through the years. Their mere presence was comforting, I actually felt better after staying infront of my bookshelf for a while. *sighs*

Anyway, I won't make this long, I just want to share the goodness of what books bring to my life :D

Do share your experiences and feelings!
Have a good day ahead, everyone!

Any Thoughts? is a segment in my blog where I pound and mull over certain bookish and non-bookish topics. Mostly, I just ramble about my opinions.

Hi *waves* I am getting fond of that *waves* So I figured to share one terrible reading habit of mine. It is called putting-a-book-on-hold-cause-I-don't-want-to-label-it-DNF-but-still-I-casually-forget-to-pick-it-up-again habit. Yup, there's a syndrome like that so BEWARE.

I checked my goodreads this morning and I am well aware of the "update books/status" area on the right side of the home page bugging me to be recognized. I love goodreads and its convenience to bits, but sometimes I totally forgot to clear out the books on that feature of the site. Obviously, I am not currently reading these books, but at the same time I want to continue them since I've been atleast half done. The thing is it never happens. Yes, it only occurs in my dreams and goals. I am such a poopoo.

Let's take a look at my on-hold books for ages.

Gravity by Melissa West: Oh look at the date. Nov 1, 2013. I've been putting it off for 3 months and I am actually wondering if I would ever pick it up anytime soon. The thing is, this story was too slow. And according to my last update: "information. overload. bye. brain cells." I took the precautionary not to hurt more my brain cells and leave this for while. I remember continuing it again, but eventually put it off again. I am so sorry, I barely remember even the name of the characters.

Hemlock by Kathleen Peacock: I am so cloooose! So close to finishing this book. Just another half and I am done, but I don't want to pressure my self just for the sake of putting it as read and rating it as 2-3 stars. The story was eccentric for it tackles about the mainstream wolves, but it took the concept on a different level. What really ticked me off was the three main characters and the love triangle. They were really eye roll inducing. Pfft. Been putting this off for a month now, and just like Gravity, I don't know if I should continue or put this on hold for a lifetime.

Falling Kingdoms by Morgan Rhodes: This was an abrupt and stupid move. I didn't even plan on reading it, I just dl-ed it as e-book and read the first 5 pages. I don't want to DNF it since I haven't even meet half of the main characters and with the premise of the book, I just can't put this DNF. Out of all the three on-hold, I think this one has the greatest chance of being touched again. TAT

Actually I still have more books on-hold but didn't update it in my goodreads. I still remember that I started reading The Iron Queen by Julie Kagawa until page 50 something, but the continuous torture of the love triangle made my heart ached I haughtily closed the book and threw it across the room (nah kidding I just closed it.) I like the story damn much, but when the romance that was supposed to be on the sideline of the events took too much of the pages, I easily get irritated. (Ugh, I am such a moody reader - need to discuss this soon) But hey, I am going to continue this soon! You betcha!

And another is Unchained by Jennifer Armentrout. Okay, this one, I was so close like 30 + pages left, but it's not making sense anymore so I thought I leave it for a day then continue it the other day, but what happened? You got it, I totally put it on-hold. There's just something about the story that was so shallow and predictable yet in a minimal pages I thought I could just finish it and get over with it.

868561212081652

Just look at all the pretties I put on-hold! Ugh, I am such a horrible reader sometimes. I am sorry books!
For me I think this is better than labeling these as DNF, or maybe it's just the same, but atleast when I put a book on-hold it has a potential to be continued again. I don't want to recklessly rate it, I still want to do it like the way I do it with the books I finish.
\
And they lived happily ever after........................Wew, I think I talked too much.

So how about you guys? Do you often put books on hold? Are you the type that comes back eventually to what they put on-hold? Share your stories and thoughts! :'D

Happy reading! xo

rant /rant/
verb.

1. speak or shout at length in a wild, impassioned way.

2. To speak or write in an angry or violent manner.

SO this will be short. I just want to ask you guys, if it happens that a book you've anticipated to read made you so disappointed and bored and meh and grimace and cringe and and and literally want to stab your eyes, do you still write reviews about it?

Dealing with book-freaking-hangover

HELLO 911 YES I JUST FINISHED *INSERT BOOK TITLE* I NEED AN AMBULANCE ASAP THANKS XOXO

When a beautiful book reached its last page and we can't help but to mope helplessly saying "please no no no no not yet."
After closing the book there's a stunned silence wherein you look blankly on the book/series enders and realize that it's over. Over. Over. . And the days after it still feels unfathomable because we are still not over a certain book - worse a series ender. That is when book hangover hits like a bitch, I mean a tornado.

And I am like "Don't touch me dont just dooooont."
And others are like:

Right now I am on a dreading book hangover brought by Champion. (yes thank you very much Marie Lu) I can't even describe my feelings at the moment for I am still longing for more of the characters to the extent I reread the book again after 24 hours of finishing it. It's just so astonishing & wonderful I can't seem to let go YET.

I've been into the same kind of hangovers before. A lot of books already put me on this dreading situation. The longest book hangover I had was for a week? with Clockwork Princess; every book that I read after CP2 don't satisfy me enough and in the end I just choose to put those on hold for a moment and let myself loose some of the feels I had.

For a reader this kind of situation isn't foreign anymore. And I have some thoughts I want to share regarding the issue.

My biggest question: What to read next?
It seems that I've already read the best book in the world and nothing more can surpass the emotional attachment I had for the previous book I read.

Do I enjoy book hangovers?
Yes because I am a sadist. Well seriously yes, because it just proves that I read a really good book; the book/series along with the author nested a cozy place inside my heart & mind. And no because it turns me into a horrible reader sometimes. I began to compare a lot and sometimes I can't stop talking about it; I am afraid my sister / followers in social networking sites are annoyed and irked already. (I am sorry guys I cant help it)

What do I do to cure my book hangover?
Believe me it sometimes take a pretty handful of pills and some injections, worse, IV & quarantine for 106700 years.

1. Take your time.
Wait for the feels to subside. It usually takes days and worse weeks, but nothing beats the "Time heals wounds" but undoubtedly, books can give the worst kinds of wounds.

2. Read from a different genre.
It will be hard to read another book with the same genre as of the one you previously read. We can't help but to compare and contrast the two novels especially in terms of the world building (coughs dystopia novels coughs) and that is such a boo boo and a low blow for your current read. It was not its fault! lol

3. Find someone to talk to.
Bloggers, goodreads users, or simply just bookish people are very substantial in this manner for they can comfort you and rave with you about the book. You'll found yourself missing the book/series again, but this time a weight will be gone from the book hangover.

4. Eat.
Comfort food or anything that can make you extremely happy by just devouring it to the last bite. I always eat ice creams or cakes when I am put into book hangovers and these ruin my diet HA screw diet.

I am sure as hell that Champion book hangover will hurt like a....massive ball knocking me on the face. I can already foresee it. And I am scared because I planned to pamper myself since its term break with books, but a single book will cut that into pieces.

DANIEL ALTAN WING HOW WILL I GET OVER YOU. I seriously want to fling you off a cliff!! What have you doooooooooooone.

I want to ask how do you guys deal with book hangovers? Up to how long does usually hangover last? What book/s gave you the longest book hangover? I would be really happy to read your thoughts & experiences. I might as well get more tips from you guys to help me deal with book hangovers.

GOODREADS
stars

Thought: Does Kasie West ever go wrong? I'm escalated that my first read for 2017 was a squee-filled one. This was utterly adorable. The main character, Lily, is a very witty person. It wasn't hard to love her and her family.
