HAPPY HOLIDAYS, EVERYONE!

Tis' the season to be jolly, *falsetto voice* fa la la la ~ la la la *cracks up*
Anyway, Christmas already passed and the New Year awaits us in a few hours. Time flies really fast, eh? To share our Christmas celebration, we just had the usual family gathering which used to be chaotic and in an uproar, but this year only a few relatives showed up. Some of my aunts and uncles as well as my dad work abroad. Some of my little cousins were away from us. So in short, it was really serene and calm, but hey, we still enjoyed it with the chatter and FOOD. You can never go wrong with FOOD. <3 My mom, sister and I will have a simple New Year's Eve dinner celebration + watch fireworks light the sky<33 So excited!
New books for December ♥_♥ Two of these were gifts, the rest were from my Christmas moneyyyy. I just noticed that DoSaB was used twice XD I'm so excited to read all these books especially Shadow Kiss!
Won this from Kaitlin's giveaway! Thank you so much! :D It is huge. GOSH. I thought it was just the usual size of a hardback but maaaaan, it is huuuuuge and heavy. I am so excited to read this. Let's do thiz Celaena! Sorry for the messy room XD

I wish everyone a wonderful and epic 2015! Be happy and get wasted (just suggesting (;)

NINE   B O O K S   O F   2014

Second part of this post is about my top reads for 2014!!!! I was supposed to do Jamie's end of the year survey, but while I was doing it, I realized how repetitive my answers were for I read a few books this year. Frankly, I admit that 2014 was a terrible reading year for me. 5 star books were so elusive this year. I don't know what I have been reading, but seeing my TEN 5-star ratings made me want to re-evaluate my choices in life. It didn't help too that I was so busy with college this year. The Young Elites made me cry - not just because of that particular scene, but also because the heroine was horribly tormented + has daddy issues. Her pain and agony were almost palpable. I haven't written a proper review for this, but I hope I could share my thoughts about this book next year! World After made my heart ache and erratically beat so hard. I missed my RAFFRYN OTP so darn much! I felt a little underwhelmed with The Blood of Olympus but over all, I still rated it 5 stars since, duh, NICO AND WILL???? Goshdamn. And also, there were a lot of moments that I absolutely enjoyed. I will miss Percy and the gang :(. The Lost probably was the most surprising book for me this year. It is my first Sarah Durst book and I utterly loved it! It has a very unique premise and the magical-realism was really executed well.

Daughter of Smoke and Bone was awesome! I never thought that I could enjoy another angel book aside from Ee's books. Laini Taylor is a very talented storyteller. Aaaahh, you guys should read the book. Her writing was breathtaking. Maybe Someday was a helluva rollercoaster ride. I- I just... There was too much feels! I recoil from books with cheating, but this is definitely an exception. It was done so well! Goshdamn, the emotions!! Split Second: “What about you? How does it feel to know though you have an advanced mind, the girl you love wants me?"  Nuff said Trevor, mi luv.

Lovely Vicious was another surprising read. So here's the thing, the main character was SUPERB. Friggin' fantastic and hilarious. On the Fence was very fun and fluffy read. Anything that is contemporary Kasie West is a go-go.

I highly recommend all these to everyone! These books absolutely made my year epic and superb. Some of these are part of a series that I already started way back and some were from authors that I haven't heard before <3.

Have you read any of these books? Any of these books are also on your top reads this year? Share your thoughts!

It's no secret to anyone that I am pertaining to Marie Lu. You already see that coming right? And the pun up there. Anyway, I may be typing this coherently but inside I'm still shaking with a lot of IS THIS REAL LIFE questions swirling. I mean, come on, your favorite in front of you signing your book, listening to your blabber, saying thank yous and smiling so sweetly IT IS TOO UNREAL, but it is real and I am feeling the hangover.

I've been in love with her debut series ever since I finished Legend. Then Prodigy (which is my absolute favorite of the 3). And then  down to the SOUL-SEARING last book which is Champion. I love all of these. But wait, there's more! We have The Young Elites which racked my brain and stomped over my heart (IT IS JUST THE FIRST BOOK! What more to happen on the next 2!!! I'm scared and ecstatic!) So you see, there are so many greatness of Marie Lu that makes her my ultimate favorite author (but Riordan, Ee, Clare, West, Wolf coming real close). And above everything, she created Daniel AltanWing (ULTIMATEST-NO-SUCH-WORD FAVORITE CHARACTER EVER!!!!!!!!!) I may have a lot like Percy, Penryn, Jem, June, Enzo, Nico, Caymen, Isis and a lot more but he really stand out.

So enough about my unwavering love for Lu ans her books, let's go to the actual book signing. It happened last Nov 23, 2014, Sunday. I didn't get to take a lot of decent pics since the venue was packed as in 700+ readers attending? Yeah, not getting any clear pic. I went to the event late about 12 nn and my number was 696! Damn. I don't know why I was laughing when I received my number, but yeah.. :D So around 2:30 pm Marie Lu arrived and almost everyone rushed in front to get a good look. There was no stopping everyone. The energy was so palpable and it really energized me. Let's get a good run down about the interview aka here are some facts. Note: some are non-verbatim. I recorded the whole interview (just sounds since I couldn't a good angle without an ipad/tablet blocking my view haha).

  • It was easier to write Day's POV than June. Marie Lu said she is the exact opposite of June who's a left-brainy.
  • She had a hard time writing the love scenes than the fight scenes. She isn't romantic, she said. It took her a month to write a particular scene in Champion (wink wink wink wink).
  • She intended to make Day a real criminal, like very notorious and a murderer. But Day's character evolved and then we have the new-born (walker in the light) Day.
  • Day has been on Marie Lu's mind since highschool that's why she felt so natural writing him.
  • Legend was supposed to have 2 boys as main characters. June being also a boy since Legend was based from Les Misérables. Her husband told her that making the other character a girl will make it more interesting.
  • Kaede is a very memorable character for Marie Lu because she wrote Kaede's character with the image of herself. Kaede is a pilot which Marie dreamed of becoming when she was young, but her mother told her that she won't be good at it. "That's great, achieve your dream, but not that" (we all laughed)
  • Marie Lu is not closing her doors for a Legend spin-off. It might be about Anden or Tess.
  • The Legend movie is in the process already. Screenplay is done (Marie didn't participate much since she has little idea of it), now they're finding a director and the casts (OMG!!!!!!!!!!)
  • Marie Lu is a very visual person. She worked in Disney as an visual artist. She can't write a story without drawing her characters first (which btw is super duper cool!)
  • Marie Lu's husband is a Filipino that's why she has a soft spot for the Philippines. (She absolutely love mangoes!)
  • Three of her novels got rejected (unpublished) before Legend.
  • She writes on and off. There were months that she would write everyday, and there were months that she won't at all.

Picture with Marie Lu!!!! (smiling from ear to ear).

The signed books. See that 'To Abby!' *insert wheezingnoise.mp3*
Also posted on my instagram.

They only allowed one book to be personalized with a written name. I chose Prodigy since it is my fave book from the series. Champion is missing since I bought it from a different bookstore, so NBS didn't consider it (kinda bummer but. . ) I seriously stared at my books for minutes. It's just overwhelming. Favorite. Author. Signed. My. Books. In front of me!!!!

My only qualm on this event is that we were rushed. There was no time to even talked to Marie Lu for a minute. It was just seconds. *cries* In that short moment I told her that I always talk about her books on my accounts. She just kept smiling then said, 'Oh, thank you!'

The 8 hour wait plus the numbed butt from sitting too long on the floor was worth it! And oh, while I was waiting I get to buy Proxy by Alex London so I could read while waiting. It was totally spur of the moment kind of impulse buying haha, I also saw Aimee over Deadly Darlings TWICE! But I wan't able to greet her because the first time I was shy. When I saw her on the queue for the actual signing, I was upstairs and was talking to someone. Then when I tried to look for her on the line I kind of lost her already. I think she was done. See how fast the signing for each person????? It was jarring but again, there were a lot of people so no time to chitty-chat blah blah. I wish they just adjusted the time since they know how popular Marie Lu is.

I broke my hiatus with this recap post. I just couldn't wait to share you guys this amazing experience.

Thank you National Book Store for bringing Marie Lu here! I hope this wouldn't be the last time you'll have her in the Philippines.

So. Freaking. Happy.

How are you guys? I hope you're all having a good day! >u<

Sept 27, 2013 - With an itty-bitty book blogging idea and just my love for books and expressing my feelings as my armor, I clicked blogger.com and created a book blog. I felt like I entered a different world and totally felt out of place during my first months. But, hey, it got better eventually and now I am here typing my 1st anniversary post! ♥ Sadly, this post is not only for my blogversary but also my bid of mini-goodbye (let's save that later.)

Who would've thought that this blog would last for a year? I am a blogger since 15 but book blogging was something very different and scary for me at first. So when people started commenting on my blog - I TOTALLY FREAKED OUT. Questions like: IS THERE A BOOK BLOGGER HANDBOOK? WHAT ARE THE GOLDEN RULES IN BOOK BLOGGING? WHAT DO I DO NOW?? surfaced inside my head for the first 6 months! But as I told a while ago, it got better and so much fun!!

Thank you Stacie, Aimee, Val, Chiara, Mitchii, Becky, Emily, Cait, Lola, Rachel, Dre, Missie, Laura, Zoe, Naban, Olgia, Hazel aaaand to everyone (AS IN TO EVERYONE!!!) who've been on my blog reading or commenting! I am still in awe of this accomplishment of mine. I won't show stats, but I just want to tell everyone that THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU SO MUCH!! You guys are all awesome and wonderful. To those bloggers who nominated me for blog awards - THANK YOU!!! I haven't done anything about those, but I am truly grateful! ♥

The sad part is, I am typing this with a heavy heart. Unfortunately, I failed an exit exam in math and it is currently breaking my heart into pieces. It's depressing....so so so freaking heartbreaking for me. It sucks though, when my relatives start questioning my failure, "You're an engineering student but you failed a math exit exam?" I seriously don't know what will I say. I am a human, you know, it's not all the time that I'll succeed over everything, but I am going to be okay. I am going to be better; I am going to change for the better. I cried and cried already and that's enough tears, it's time to stand up and improve. I might not be all right entirely at the moment, but I know I'll feel better eventually. I am going to take another exit exam this coming term and I am going to be sure I am 101% prepared. I will do my very best and I won't disappoint my family and myself this time :D Excuse the dramatic part :'D I am not going to blog for the mean time until I feel like I can handle things in college + my other hobbies together. I won't be giving this up entirely because it became part of my soul already that is why I'll take a hiatus for the mean time (although I am already on a hiatus haha).

Let's all be happy & positive!

I can not hold a book giveaway right now, but I will be giving away Marie Lu books on November because.........I'll be attending Marie Lu's book signing here in the Philippines this NOVEMBER! *squeeee* *squeee some more!* *squeeeeeeeeeee* favorite author, hello!!!!!!

Again, everyone:

HELLO EVERYONE!!

Well, that's kind of an excited greeting. My blog has been quiet for a while now. I really don't have the time to read....even blog lately so that's why. The number one culprit to this is SCHOOL (you guessed it right, right? haha). Why college has to be this stressful *cries* Exam after exam damn it. But I did buy books. Only a few but the thing with these books are they are just spur of a moment kind. Totally out of impulse. You know, those moments that you set your wishlist and priorities(PJ Greek Gods being #1) to buy but then you went on a bookstore and totally bought something different. That just happened to me. Thrice. So without further ado, here's the mini-haul:

Sorry for the bad photography skillz

→ To All the Boys I've Loved Before by Jenny Han: Total cover lust. Once upon a time I went to a bookstore for the purpose of you know strolling and gushing over books and then something happened....I fell in love over a book that has a cover with pastel colors, pretty fonts and korean girl (win-win).

→ The Maze Runner by James Dashner: Twice upon a time, I went to the bookstore to buy school supplies and ended up bringing home a physical copy of TMR. I've read the series all through e-books, but suddenly at that moment I had the strong urge to buy a physical copy. I DONT KNOW WHY. It just happened.

→ The Golden Lily & The Indigo Spell by Richelle Mead: Now, this is what I call "I-am-blaming-the-sale" kind of impulse buying. I haven't even finished Vampire Academy series (like 4 books to go yay yay not to mention that I still don't have those 4 books yet) but I already have the sequels in the spin-off series. 50% off!! Hardbound!! I can't just let these go... I thought that time, "I am going to read the spin-off anyways #YOLO" .....And it just happened. Like magic.

I was Patrick and Spongebob during these moments

................MORE?
→ TEEN WOLF: Season 4 just ended and I am having a withdrawal right now. Season 5 is still so far away. LITERALLY FAR AWAY. Come on, JUNE 2015????????? Isn't that just a little bit cruel. Anyways, to all those who watch TeenWolf: HOLLA AMIGA AMIGO *tackle hugs* COME HERE COME HERE COME HERE LET'S BE FRIENDS PLEASE. This TV series is really great. A brilliant combination of humor, were-ish jedi, drama, horror, action, family, loyalty, friendship etc. I really enjoyed the dynamic characters, exciting plot and the mythology + some paranormal things that I just heard for the first time. PS: I LOVE COACH THE MOST (no one can argue w/ that). Don't fret about the title, it might sound ridiculous and shallow but the show in general is brilliant and addicting.

→ The Maze Runner: ONLY THREE DAYS FROM NOW. SO. EXCITED. DO YOU FEEL ME?? We'll be 2 days earlier from its US showing date so *evil laugh*

→ Extras: Some changes will happen soon :)

→ I am so behind with blog posts. I haven't opened bloglovin for two weeks and I seriously missed lots of posts of you guuuys D: I am going to make up for it and try to hop from one blog to another. I am sad that I won't be able to attend to Manila International Book Fair....because of some reasons. It's a total bummer but I promised to myself that I am going to attend next year's book fair.

THAT'S ALL FOR TODAY! I hope you are all having a good time :D

Thought: Does Kasie West ever go wrong? I'm escalated that my first read for 2017 was a squee-filled one. This was utterly adorable. The main character, Lily, is a very witty person. It wasn't hard to love her and her family.
