Unbreakable
Author: Kami Garci
Released Date: October 1, 2013
Genre: YA, fantasy, paranormal, ghosts, demons
Rating: ★★★★

Synopsis:
Supernatural meets The Da Vinci Code in this action-packed paranormal thriller, the first book in a new series from New York Times bestselling author Kami Garcia.

I never believed in ghosts. Until one tried to kill me.

When Kennedy Waters finds her mother dead, her world begins to unravel. She doesn’t know that paranormal forces in a much darker world are the ones pulling the strings. Not until identical twins Jared and Lukas Lockhart break into Kennedy’s room and destroy a dangerous spirit sent to kill her. The brothers reveal that her mother was part of an ancient secret society responsible for protecting the world from a vengeful demon — a society whose five members were all murdered on the same night.

Now Kennedy has to take her mother’s place in the Legion if she wants to uncover the truth and stay alive. Along with new Legion members Priest and Alara, the teens race to find the only weapon that might be able to destroy the demon — battling the deadly spirits he controls every step of the way.

Suspense, romance, and the paranormal meet in this chilling urban fantasy, the first book in a new series from Kami Garcia, bestselling coauthor of the Beautiful Creatures novels.

I had a few issues & peeves on this book, but there were also a number of reasons why I can't bring it down. Let's start off with the good things.

I was fascinated with the world building. Kami Garci really took time to research about the demon, devil, ghosts stuff and added a wicked twist and adventure to it. It wasn't long until I caved in with her writing. It amazed how she can perfectly describe each scenes or paranormal characters and let her readers fully envision. Kami let my imagination ran reaaaal wild.

The scary factor was one of the biggest deal here. The story line was enough captivating, frightening, skin-crawling and gripping. There were some scenes that really scared the hell out of me and i admit that I stopped reading in the middle of the night to avoid disturbing dreams later. The plot made sense at everything, but the pacing was too fast that i think I sometimes forgot to catch a breathe. I don't know if it's a good or bad thing, but I can say it is somewhere in between. It was a tornado of sequential events.

I think my favorite will be the adventure of the legion. Everytime they bust a spirit out and collect a part of the Shift makes everything so fun and exciting. Whenever they found the clue on to their next location, I found myself imagining scenes from movies, but this time it was written in words. The history of the legion appeared to be funny at first because it's hard to believe in paranormal activities ALTHOUGH a lot are claiming to experience such in real life. But that's the beauty of this book, it made me forget what I don't believe to and enveloped me into Unbreakable's world.

I personally loved the secondary characters than the main characters. Priest and Alora are my fave. They are jsut easy to like, carefree and fun. I have mixed feelings about Luke because there's something off about his character. Now, the main characters., Kennedy and Jared. What can I say? Hm. I really didn't like them, but I don't hate or despise them. I found their characters not appealing. Kennedy sported bravery and courage, but being a wimp was never removed into her system. I know the whole thing scares her, but big panties, Kennedy. Jared was so cryptic, mysterious and distant. I really can't decipher what he is up to. His actions always surprise me. One second he's good, and in a split moment he's back to being inconclusive.

Love triangle. Eeeek. I hated it to be honest. Especially that Jared and Luke are twins and both of them are fighting for Kennedy's attention. Yikes. Insta-love between Kennedy and Jared!!!!! My major peeve! How come they already loved each other, they only just met a week ago?????? I would've accept it if their relationship was gradually working. Since it was fast-paced the romance was also fast-paced which resulted to a very dull and lousy relationship. I couldn't feel the emotion between them. It was so hard to focus on their relationship when there's so many creepy things going on that needs more attention. The romance that surfaced was basically a design that doesn't give justice to the interior.

Setting aside the romance, this book was a worthy and gnarly read. I had fun with all the goosebumps and mind-boggling scenes. Am I going to read the next book? Definitely YES! After they screwed up a MAJOR thing, I am seriously eager to read what are the consequences and how are they going to correct and resolve. I am also rooting for character development and just more scary stuff.

3.5 stars ( cause there's no half heart ) :(

THE TITLE TO BE CHANGED LMAO

"Good things come to those who wait"

I am going to vomit OH MY GOD LIKE FINALLY SETH'S OWN BOOK YOU MOTHER FUCKERS IT'S OUR TURN NOW. I LITERALLY SCREAMED LIKE A MAD WOMAN WHEN I FOUND OUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am an avid fangirl of Seth ever since Half-blood. I love him to bits! He has a very dark and cryptic aura that enticed me ever since. The ending of Sentinel really frustrated me because of its dire conclusion(?) for Seth. Although I already foresaw that kind of ending for him, it was still unbearable to the point I cannot even rate Sentinel when I finished it. For the oh-so-freaking-good-news, last Nov 16, 2013, Jennifer Armentrout announced the spin-off for the Covenant Series and guess what...

SETH'S STORY

The Return (Titan #1)
I cannot freaking contain my feels right now. Thank you the quiet girl talks. LOL. I saw her WoW and discovered that Jlynn already unveiled the cover and title of Seth's story. I was so outdated, I didn't even heard about this news last week. Such poo poo :(( I was sad to know about this later, but now I am just freaking excited for this one. Again, I LITERALLY SCREAMED AND CLAWED MY FACE. YES.

Anyway, the cover is smoking holy friggin amber eyes.

TEENIE WEENIE TEASERS FROM JLYNN:

1. The Return will be in dual POV (Seth and our main protagonist)
2. You have NOT met the female lead yet.
3. The female lead has absolutely no knowledge of gods and any of that
4. Since it’s a Titan novel, you can expect… the Titans.
5. Apollo will be all up in the book, because well, it’s Apollo and I sort of like him.
6. Deacon and Luke will make appearances, but other main characters will not be featured in this series. (Not giving details to avoid as much spoilers as possible)
7. The biggest difference is that the Titan series will be New Adult paranormal. And here’s the reason why. I never gave Seth’s birthday, but he’s always been well over the age of 18 years old, and I really have no real reason bringing him into a high school environment without making him look like a creeper. And he already has enough creeper tendencies as is, so he really is too old for YA. Does that mean the book will be inappropriate for younger readers? Absolutely not. Will it have more adult content? Probably. I mean, Seth was always borderline inappropriate, but my YA books have that, so….

Do you hear that noise? That's me flailing inside my room. Yep.

While I do appreciate the NA genre Jlynn chose, there's this still longing for the YA genre. He was introduced in a YA series, what's with the juuump. But then again, SETH is holy friggin' not really that wholesome and aside from the fact that he's also a panty-combusting character, no doubt that NA will also work for him.

I AM SO FREAKING EXCITED!!!
Again, I AM FREAKING EXCITED LIKE I CANNOT FATHOM WHAT'S REALLY HAPPENING. THIS IS THE REALITY I WANTED!!

It's getting real! My dream for Seth to have his own novel.

2015? Let the waiting begin!

Alienated
Author: Melissa Landers
Publish Date: February 4, 2014
Genre: YA. fantasy, sci-fi
Book in a series: 1st

Synopsis:
Two years ago, the aliens made contact. Now Cara Sweeney is going to be sharing a bathroom with one of them.

Handpicked to host the first-ever L’eihr exchange student, Cara thinks her future is set. Not only does she get a free ride to her dream college, she’ll have inside information about the mysterious L’eihrs that every journalist would kill for. Cara’s blog following is about to skyrocket.

Still, Cara isn’t sure what to think when she meets Aelyx. Humans and L’eihrs have nearly identical DNA, but cold, infuriatingly brilliant Aelyx couldn’t seem more alien. She’s certain about one thing, though: no human boy is this good-looking.

But when Cara's classmates get swept up by anti-L'eihr paranoia, Midtown High School suddenly isn't safe anymore. Threatening notes appear in Cara's locker, and a police officer has to escort her and Aelyx to class.

Cara finds support in the last person she expected. She realizes that Aelyx isn’t just her only friend; she's fallen hard for him. But Aelyx has been hiding the truth about the purpose of his exchange, and its potentially deadly consequences. Soon Cara will be in for the fight of her life—not just for herself and the boy she loves, but for the future of her planet

Love the synopsis! Based from the people who got an e-arc, they loved this one. I also requested this one, but netgalley declined it ( what a bummer!). Alien mojossss!! I remember Lux series, but I think this one will be lighter and fluffier.

What's on your list? ;D

Today's topic: Things I am thankful for

Thankful to my parents who read me bedtime stories when I was little. The only ones who will never turn their backs to me no matter what. I am thankful to them for being understanding and loving even though I mess up a lot of things. Their love is the definition of irrevocable and unwavering.
The color to my monochrome life. Books made me feel all kinds of emotions, blissful, melancholic, frustrated, pained, confused, *insert keyboard smash* etcetc. My love for books will never waver. One point or another books mended and changed me. I am not the person I am now without the help of books. Thank you authors for sharing pieces of yourselves.
TREVOR. LUKE CASTELLAN. JEM CARSTAIRS. My ultimate book boyfriends aka the love of my fictional life and the epitome of "where can I find them in reality?". Thank you for making me feel all warm and damned in love. LOL MUSHY.
My 14 year old sister who fangirls with me always. We have the same love for books and kpop. We go ASDFGEJIFKDKSJKSKJ like crazy when we talk about fictional characters, kpop artists etc. My books are her books too! Sometimes we engaged in shallow and silly fights, but never had a major misunderstanding. Love her so much.
I'm thankful for the opportunity to study in on the best engineering school in the Philippines. My dream school ever since gradeschool and ever since I discovered what degree I am up to. I'll do my best and I promise I'll graduate in Mapua Institute of Technology. Yay. (please pray for me :D)
Kpop /biases/ or in mundane term, favorites. I am thankful for their existence. Aside from fictional characters, the people that always set up my mood during my rough days are my biases namely Luhan, Jessica & Donghae. (they're probably aliens to you guys LOL) but yes, they are the cup of sunshine in a bucket of rain!! (lol trying to be figurative)
My gadgets mainly Mimi and Momo!! Mimi is my phone while Momo is my laptop. (I just thought about it last week tbh). They say that gadgets can't make you happy, well they are wrong. Mimi has an e-book reader and he is my entertainment in every humdrum situation especially in train rides and travel. Momo was a gift from my dad. My first ever laptop (like my own no one to share to).
Thankful for the existence of Mcflurry, blackpearl chocolate shake, takuyaki balls, KFC gravy and most of all CHOCOLATES. Yes, my comfort food, my favorites, the love of my hungry life, the foods I'll bring in outer space or after life (omg the thought scares me HAHAHA)
I am thankful for my private twitter HAHAHAHA. All my ramblings and raging thoughts are safely posted there lol No one follows me there so I am free to tweet whatever I want especially in times of fury, sadness and also happiness. and also when I secretly & privately bash people (i'm sorry btw :3)
Awww. My piece of gem. I have lots of blog, but I think this the most active at the moment. Thank you to the lovely people who followed and commented on my posts and reviews. You guys rock I swear! ;)

And I would like to thank the academy............ LOL

cue for me to wipe my tears. Seriously, while I was thinking of the things I am thankful for it felt so nostalgic and emotional.

Link up your TTT :D

Today's topic: Super Six books that I'm glad I read!

If others have Harry Potter series, when I was a little kid, this was the very first series I ever finished. I love the world building. It brought out the imaginative side of me. There's something bizarre with the illimitable and creative world this series etched on my mind. I am so glad I got to read The Magician's Nephew, where it all began.

I've been talking about this nonstop. Pivot Point is my number one fave read for 2013 and I admit I am really obsessing over this. Thank you to the hype that brought my attention onto this debut novel. I never really like parallel settings, but this book was an exception. And please, TREVOR.

This book introduced me to the shadowhunter world way back the Victorian era. When I thought that I'll never fall in love in a love triangle, this book proved me wrong. This book might be the least fave among all three books in the series, but I assure everyone that this is not a disappointment. So glad I picked and read this out.

This hauntingly dark first book in a trilogy really messed up with my mind. I am so glad I didn't give up on this one. I really loved Liam Stewart. *swoons* Although the world here is seriously messed up, I like how intense and adventure-filled this book was. ROADTRIP!!!

What can I say? Lightning Thief is one of the best first books in a series! Thank you, Percy. This book welcomed me to a transcendent world of gods and demigods. I never got bored reading this as well as the other books in the series and spin-off. I am so glad I read this. Rick Riordan is just another phenomenal writer in the wooooorld!

The only NA book that I'll forever reread. I am so glad I read this because if it wasn't for this, I already lost my faith in finding a good NA book. The tingling feeling that I felt while reading this book was overwhelming. This was damn sweet, feverish, but at the same time angsty with a lot of struggles. Btw this is a debut novel!

What's your Super Six? :D

Working It
Author: Kendall Ryan
Published Date: Nov 11, 2013
Genre: NA, romance
Rating: ★★

Synopsis:
Emmy Clarke is out of her depth in New York City’s fashion world, but when she lands a job as an assistant at a modeling agency it seems like the perfect mix of business and pleasure. Working under the notorious Fiona Stone is a nightmare, but there’s one distinct perk: ogling the ridiculously hot male models who parade through the office—particularly rising star Ben Shaw.

Ben is everything Emmy’s not: exquisitely gorgeous, highly paid, and well-traveled. He’s also got more issues than Vogue. Emmy looks after Ben on photo shoots, but she refuses to become another one of his lusting groupies. Ben finds Emmy’s refreshingly real attitude to be surprisingly attractive.

Against a backdrop of the most fashionable cities in the world, casual flirting turns into an illicit affair, but when Ben’s twisted past is revealed, and the bitter Fiona catches wind of their relationship, their careers and hearts are threatened.

Oka.....y? Out of sheer curiousity, I downloaded this e-book and tried so hard to finish it. Why? The prologue and the first few chapters left an impression. I thought that this Sexy World Class Model fell in love with the Commoner motif will sweep me off my feet, but I guess it just swept some dusts. Working It is another NA novel that belongs to the MEDIOCRE shelf. I can't really feel the emotions from the story. I had a lot of problems with the plot twists and bitchy antagonist. The main characters were flimsy from my perception and their relationship was another steamy-but-that's-it? kind.

Emmy was sweet and really caring. I appreciated her non-slut shaming character from the start, but I guess Ben brought out the dark and wild side of her. What ticked me off was her vulnerability and week character. Sometimes I want to punch her, sometimes I just want her to grow some balls (not literally that'll look awful). Ben was a little bit cold, distant and juvenile at first. I thought that will make me yearn for the ALPHA side but i guess it really didn't. To think that he was a to die for world class model, he was just average.

Fiona the bitch. She was damn immature with al lher actions, glare and spatted words. Narrow-minded and real desperate for a scene. I think 75% of the reason why I didn't like this book was because of the "the antagonist should fuel the fire" thing didn't really happen. Fiona just made things worse for the book.

I can say that this novel needs more substance in the story. It really lacked climax and exciting scenes. The mood of the story was seriously neutral all through out. The plot twist at the end was predictable. The story was giving away too much not substantial things making the plot lousy and awful. A really unsatisfying read.

I found out that two of my most anticipated books for 2014 will be release on Feb 11, 2014!!! SAY WHAT? It may be coincidence, but I think it is God's way of DOUBLE KILLING ME. The two books are:

Split Second
Author: Kasie West
FEB 11, 2014!!!!

Synopsis (if you're curious):
Life can change in a split second.

On top of that, her ability is acting up. She’s always been able to Search the future when presented with a choice. Now she can manipulate and slow down time, too . . . but not without a price.

When Addie’s dad invites her to spend her winter break with him, she jumps at the chance to escape into the Norm world of Dallas, Texas. There she meets the handsome and achingly familiar Trevor. He’s a virtual stranger to her, so why does her heart do a funny flip every time she sees him? But after witnessing secrets that were supposed to stay hidden, Trevor quickly seems more suspicious of Addie than interested in her. And she has an inexplicable desire to change that.

Meanwhile, her best friend, Laila, has a secret of her own: she can restore Addie’s memories . . . once she learns how. But there are powerful people who don’t want to see this happen. Desperate, Laila tries to manipulate Connor, a brooding bad boy from school—but he seems to be the only boy in the Compound immune to her charms. And the only one who can help her.

As Addie and Laila frantically attempt to retrieve the lost memories, Addie must piece together a world she thought she knew before she loses the love she nearly forgot . . . and a future that could change everything.
I LOVED PIVOT POINT SO MUCCH! I can't stop talking about it!! So I am really desperate for Split Second. T R E V O R. I need more T R E V O R in my life!!! Kasie West what have you done? I am desperate for an ARC tbvh.

 Solving for Ex
Author: Leigh Ann Kopans
FEB 11, 2014!!!!

Synopsis (This one has a very good premise!!):
1 crush on your best friend +
1 gorgeous, scheming new girl +
1 Mathletics competition =
1 big mess

SIMPLIFY.

Ashley Price doesn’t have much in life after being bullied so hard she had to leave her old school to live with her aunt and uncle in Pittsburgh. But the camera she borrowed from her best friend and secret crush Brendan, and her off the charts math abilities, make things a lot more bearable. Plus, since Brendan is the captain, making the school Mathletes team should be easy.

But when gorgeous new girl Sofia rolls in and steals Brendan, Ashley's place on the team, and her fragile foothold on the Mansfield Park Prep social totem pole, it’s on. Sofia is everything Ashley left her old school to escape. The only thing Ashley didn’t count on is Sofia’s sexy twin brother Vincent.

Vincent is not only the hottest boy in school, he’s charming, sweet, and he’s got his eye on Ashley. He’s also not taking no for an answer. There's no real reason Ashley shouldn't like Vincent, but with the
battle lines being drawn between her and Sofia, Ashley’s not sure which side he’s on. Or which side she wants him to be on.

She does know Sofia is trouble with a capital T, and she’s determined to make Brendan see it.

SOLVING FOR EX is a YA contemporary romance that remixes Mansfield Park as Clueless meets Mean Girls in a crazy mix of high school society, mathletic competition, and teenage romance.
This sounds sooooo freaking good! Math + romance +  ONE HELL CRAZY FUN??????? WHO DOESNT WANT TO READ IT? I love books that incorporate Math in the plot. I've been searching for books with that premise but unfortunately this is like the first one I discovered. MUST GET MY HANDS ON THIS!! Can't wait!!

Legend
Author: Marie Lu
Published Date: November 29, 2011
Genre: YA, dystopia, sci-fi
Rating: ★★★★★

Synopsis:
What was once the western United States is now home to the Republic, a nation perpetually at war with its neighbors. Born into an elite family in one of the Republic's wealthiest districts, fifteen-year-old June is a prodigy being groomed for success in the Republic's highest military circles. Born into the slums, fifteen-year-old Day is the country's most wanted criminal. But his motives may not be as malicious as they seem.
From very different worlds, June and Day have no reason to cross paths - until the day June's brother, Metias, is murdered and Day becomes the prime suspect. Caught in the ultimate game of cat and mouse, Day is in a race for his family's survival, while June seeks to avenge Metias's death. But in a shocking turn of events, the two uncover the truth of what has really brought them together, and the sinister lengths their country will go to keep its secrets.
Full of nonstop action, suspense, and romance, this novel is sure to move readers as much as it thrills.

“Each day means a new twenty-four hours. Each day means everything's possible again. You live in the moment, you die in the moment, you take it all one day at a time.”  -Day
I finished this last week I think? I always forgot to update fak it's even a miracle I can finish a book in a week. Damn busy sched :-@

Anyways! When Champion was released I SWEAR my goodreads feed had been Champion-ized LOL I've been rooting to read this and finally decided to buy a copy AND OMG No regreeeets!

First 15% of the book left me a little unsatisfied and meh, but every page gets better and better! What I really really love about this novel is its cryptic and intense plot. This book is a combination of blindsiding secrets, undercover, turncoat and fraud making everything more thrilling and exciting.

This is the kind of dystopia book that never failed to emphasize the creation of an illimitable and imaginative world. The idea of America having two sides (Republican and Colonies + Patriots) definitely got my interest. It is so rare that books can execute a good plot involving politics, romance from opposite worlds and action-packed scenes. A breathe of fresh air as they say. The world building is insanely good.

The writing style is full of imagery. Marie writes like she's actually using a visual presentation to feed the readers the scenarios and the setting of the story. Also, Legend was well-narrated coming from both June & Day's alternating POV.
“What a joke! Poor little rich girl's fallen in love with the Republic's most famous criminal.”
June and Day are very lovely characters with exceptional strength, intelligence, vigor, solidity and love for their family. I'm in awe on how indomitable their spirits are in time of vulnerability. They are commendably strong. Their relationship isn't forced, it's feverishly gripping, leaving me craving for more. From their opposite prepositions in life, lies and secrets confined them as one. I NEED MORE OF JUNE AND DAY PLEAAAAAAAASE.

Another thing very evident in this book is the siblings-love. Parts and parts of this book tackled and explored the extent of sibling-love. From Metias and June to John-Day-Eden, all exhibit unwavering love to each other. Sacrifices have been made in order to give way for the other's survival. It's just unfair, but IT HAS TO BE DONE.

Antagonists are just oh-so depressing as ever. I want to strangle them, but at the same time hug them for being haughty and rotten. Thomas is so UGHHHHH while Tess is AWWWWW. LOVE SQUARE? Uh-oh.

Overall, I recommend this to dystopian junkies and just to who ever wants to read a fast-paced, action-packed and creative novel. Book 2: Prodigy.

The Blood of Olympus
Author: Rick Riordan aka the god of fantasy-myth novels
Publish Date: October 7, 2014
Genre: myth, fantasy
Book in a series: 5th books (last fucking bool im going to cry)

Synopsis:
Though the Greek and Roman crewmembers of the "Argo II" have made progress in their many quests, they still seem no closer to defeating the earth mother, Gaea. Her giants have risen-all of them, and they're stronger than ever. They must be stopped before the Feast of Spes, when Gaea plans to have two demigods sacrificed in Athens. She needs their blood-the blood of Olympus-in order to wake. The demigods are having more frequent visions of a terrible battle at Camp Half-Blood. The Roman legion from Camp Jupiter, led by Octavian, is almost within striking distance. Though it is tempting to take the Athena Parthenos to Athens to use as a secret weapon, the friends know that the huge statue belongs back on Long Island, where it "might" be able to stop a war between the two camps. The Athena Parthenos will go west; the "Argo II" will go east. The gods, still suffering from multiple personality disorder, are useless. How can a handful of young demigods hope to persevere against Gaea's army of powerful giants? As dangerous as it is to head to Athens, they have no other option. They have sacrificed too much already. And if Gaea wakes, it is game over.

THE LAST PERCY BOOK! I NEED A MOMENT. SERIOUSLY. This book will definitely kill me once it is released! The Blood of Olympus aka the conclusion to one of the most spectacular, phenomenal, jaw-dropping and all words synonymous to AMAZING. **SQUEAAALS* Someone will die? Who? Who? Will there be reunion of old characters? What will happen? What? What? How will they defeat Geae, rather, who between STORM or FIRE will defeat WORLD? Oh my gods, I'm going to piss on my pants I am so freaking excited!! At the same time, this book makes me sad and melancholic in contrary to my excitement. This is the last percy book and we need to say goodbye to the characters we had loved since The Lightning Thief :((((((( I know that Rick will never ever disappoint, so, I am just expecting sheer creativity, mind-blowing plot twists, intense action scenes, awesomeness at its finest and a truck load of greek mojos!! AHHHHHHHHH CANT WAIT!!

What's your pick?

Thought: Does Kasie West ever go wrong? I'm escalated that my first read for 2017 was a squee-filled one. This was utterly adorable. The main character, Lily, is a very witty person. It wasn't hard to love her and her family.
