Synopsis:
After serving out a year of hard labor in the salt mines of Endovier for her crimes, 18-year-old assassin Celaena Sardothien is dragged before the Crown Prince. Prince Dorian offers her her freedom on one condition: she must act as his champion in a competition to find a new royal assassin. Her opponents are men-thieves and assassins and warriors from across the empire, each sponsored by a member of the king's council. If she beats her opponents in a series of eliminations, she'll serve the kingdom for three years and then be granted her freedom.
Celaena finds her training sessions with the captain of the guard, Westfall, challenging and exhilirating. But she's bored stiff by court life. Things get a little more interesting when the prince starts to show interest in her... but it's the gruff Captain Westfall who seems to understand her best.
Then one of the other contestants turns up dead... quickly followed by another.
Can Celaena figure out who the killer is before she becomes a victim? As the young assassin investigates, her search leads her to discover a greater destiny than she could possibly have imagined.

Review:
First of all, let me just commend the author, Sarah Maas, for creating a new wonderful world for readers to dwell in. And I would like to commend her 10 years research regarding everything written on this book.

The world's most notorious assassin is tasked by the Crown Prince to join the King's competition. Out of her desperation for freedom, 18 year old assasin, Celaena Sardothien, took the risk and traveled down to Ardalan leaving the prison salt mine of Endovier. In the throne of glass she was trained by the captain of guards, Chaol, to beat the other assasins, thieves and royal warriors. It's simple, win the tournament, be the King's Champion, be the Ardalan's assassin for four years and freedom atlast.

I really have a thing for badass girl main characters. I've had enough with fluffy, full of cutesy and annoying main characters. On the other hand, this assassin isnt just badass, she's also gifted with witty personality and feminine gene. She's vulnerable when it comes to falling inlove but she's not the kind of easily giving up. Obstinate badass assassin. It was thrilling reading this book because of a new wonderful world the author created for the readers to dwell in. I didn't had a difficulty getting myself into this book, each pages unfolds interesting and mind-blowing events.

The story has its creepy side especially the mystery on the other Champions' wanton deaths. Some events, encounters and dialogues gave me chills, gooesebumps and shiver. I mean it's just literally creepy!!! And that's why I liked it more more more more.. On the latter, there's also a pinch of romance in this story which added fuel to the fire of my desire to fully engross reading this.

Prince Dorian, oh what a worth swooning prince. Unlike his father, he is very kind hearten and solicitous among his country men as well a other country men. He is that prince who doesn't believe that marriage is just a show-off so that your wife will bear a heir to the crown. He believes that marrying is a very sacred sacrament. He reasoned out that only love can bind two people to engage themselves in a marriage *swwwwoonn*
He held her hand over the board and smoothly flattened their palms against each other, interlocking his fingers with hers. His hand was calloused but sturdy. Their entwined hands rested on the side of the table.

"One needs both hands to play chess," she said, wondering if it were possible for her heart to explode. Fleetfoot huffed and trotted away, probably to disappear under the bed.
"I think you only need one." He moved a piece all over the board. "See?"
Oh dear Captain of the Guards, Chaol, I kinda rooted for him for Celaena especially from the first pages of the book. He was the cold-hearted one that remained stern but slowly melting because of Celaena. I feel like he has this burning passion towards Celaena but he doesn't let love meddle with his duties. /pats u/ I'm just praying that this is not love triangle!! I beg you author!!

Finally, the villains! May they rot in inferno. *SIDE EYES* Perrington! This asshole is the epitome of sonofabitch. And let's add to the list Cain. He was hot as I imagined but he has a rotting wits and demeanor.

I love all the characters even the villains because they contributed to the whole perfection of the book. I'm really excited for the second book which comes this 2013!!! Crown of Midnight
